Zap Energy is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Plant Design and Integration Engineer with detailed knowledge and experience with design of power plants and/or nuclear power plants, particle accelerator facilities and/or radiation medical facilities. Successful candidate will support plant level design integration and system engineering activities.
Lead and participate in the conceptual development of Zap’s next generation pilot and demonstration plant – including plant systems, structures and facilities design
Interface with the technical teams to create and manage drawing packages of integrated system, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings
Generate design package for key systems and plant features including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications
Develop strategies and procedures for plant level integration – manage technical margins, interfaces, trade-off requirements.
Work as part of a high-performing team of engineers and scientists
Develop supporting design documents
Support in development, maintenance, and refinement of plant level and system level requirement and specification documents
Support design tools and configuration management processes
Develop integrated definition of facility functions, performance and design compliance
Lead and support design reviews and resolution of cross functional technical issues
Lead and support the integration of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittal documents that support the licensing of radiation facilities
Support licensing activities associated with safety analysis reports
Education : B.S. or M.S in Mechanical, Civil, Systems or relevant engineering discipline
Years of experience: 5-10 years.
Demonstrated experience in implementing a Systems Engineering design approach in industrial or other high complexity, high regulatory environment
Experience in implementing integrated plant design of nuclear systems, including complex systems and structures
Strong understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications
Strong experience with computed aided drafting (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Pro-E, ANSYS)
Experience in a broad range of topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning
Ability to deliver projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives
Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001
Background in nuclear and/or fusion project implementation a plus
