Systems Engineering- Technical Program Manager

Zap Energy is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Technical Program Manager to partner with our Systems Engineering teams to help build a first of its kind fusion energy reactor. The TPM will work closely with executive leaders and apply their detailed knowledge and experience with agile innovation project management tools (Jira/Confluence) through planning, development and implementation. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Track progress on multiple projects and initiatives supporting executives across all of systems engineering projects. Projects could include test stand builds, developing successive versions of technical solutions, and iterating designs resulting in an overall functional demonstration version of the system.
  • Architect and execute a technical program management discipline within Systems Engineering and continue to update, refine, and grow the discipline with the engineering team
  • Make recommendations for higher level planning at the company-level partnering with TPMs in other functions as well as the corporate Program Management leaders
  • On a day-to-day basis, clarify schedules, address conflicts, resolve constraints, and align resources within and across teams.
  • Apply solid knowledge management practices through system configuration and application (such as Jira and Confluence)
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate various risks – supply chain, execution, resourcing
  • Support leaders in effectively resourcing projects and programs  
  • Work with other TPMs across the business to integrate plans, manage dependencies, reduce overall risk, and effectively communicate milestones.
  • Work closely with other business partners in finance, supply chain, facilities, construction, and others
  • Manage, deliver, and present project status, timelines, schedules, and changes to a broader audience.
  • Escalate issues early, provide concise updates to leaders and provide recommendations for resolution and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement
  • Facilitate and support the creation of the project and related technical documentation for completeness, versioning, availability and distribution to all project team members
Minimum Requirements:
  • Education : B.S. in Mechanical, Civil, Systems or relevant engineering discipline a plus
  • PMP and/or CSM certification a plus
  • Years of experience: 5+ years in technical project management, program management, and product development
  • Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Project Management methodologies (Agile, Lean, Waterfall)
  • Demonstrated experience in Jira, Confluence and/other Atlassian products as user as well as front end administrator.
  • Experience in a broad range of topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning
