Research and Development- Technical Program Manager

Zap Energy is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Technical Program Manager with detailed knowledge and experience working with Research and Development organizations in early stages of research and product development. The TPM will work across various projects and campaigns within the research organization to align individual projects and provide a comprehensive view of the overall plans and milestones of the team. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Work closely with scientific and research engineering teams in planning, execution, tracking, and measurement of project outcomes.
  • Build a program-level view of the Research and Development activities within the organization for short-term, mid-term, and long-term objectives.
  • Drive successful planning and project management through effective scheduling, resourcing, and operation coordination of the projects, experiments, campaigns, data capture, and knowledge management with the Research and Development team.
  • Optimize run schedules to make the most efficient and effective use of people, facilities, resources, diagnostics, and data collection.
  • On a day-to-day basis, clarify schedules, address conflicts, resolve constraints, and align resources within and across teams.
  • Apply solid knowledge management practices through system configuration and application (such as Jira and Confluence)
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate various risks – supply chain, execution, resourcing
  • Support leaders in effectively resourcing projects and programs 
  • Work with other TPMs across the business to integrate plans, manage dependencies, reduce overall risk, and effectively communicate milestones.
  • Work closely with other business partners in finance, supply chain, facilities, construction, and others
  • Manage, deliver, and present project status, timelines, schedules, and changes to a broader audience.
  • Escalate issues early, provide concise updates to leaders and provide recommendations for resolution and capture lessons learned for continuous improvement
  • Facilitate and support the creation of the project and related technical documentation for completeness, versioning, availability, and distribution to all project team members
Minimum Requirements:
  • Education : Bachelor’s (degree in a technical, science or engineering discipline a plus)
  • PMP and/or CSM certification a plus
  • Years of experience: 5+ years in project/program management within a scientific or highly technical environment
  • Experience with engineering design and build activities including prototyping and iteration
  • Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Project Management methodologies (Agile, Lean, Waterfall)
  • Demonstrated experience in Jira, Confluence and/other Atlassian products as user as well as front end administrator.
  • Experience in a broad range of topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning
